The Doctors TV Show
On May 21, 2010, The Doctors T.V. show was devoted to women’s health and hormone health. The show featured a hormone specialist Dr. Prudence Hall who explained the link between women’s health, personality and happiness to their hormone levels. “When a woman’s hormones become imbalanced, she experiences depression, weight gain, anxiety, sleeplessness and lack of sensuality,” Dr. Hall says. “Replace the hormones and the symptoms disappear.” Dr. Hall recommends a hormone check up to determine hormonal imbalance that is causing the problems. She reminded that although menopause starts around the age of 50, the fluctuation of hormone levels can begin as early as age 35.
Best-selling author of What’s Age Got to Do with It?: Living Your Happiest and Healthiest Life, Robin McGraw was also on the show to share her experience with menopause and hormone replacement therapy. “Two of the smartest things I’ve ever done in my entire life were to make sure I have balanced my hormones and to really embrace menopause,” Robin says. “I look at it in a positive way, in a life-changing way for the better, to a healthier me.”
The show helped women understand the benefits of bioidentical hormones, which mimic the estrogen and progesterone produced by the body and are manufactured to have the same molecular structure. The bioidentical hormones are extracted from soy and yams and are considered natural. Oftentimes, natural hormones are confused for conventional hormones; however, conventional hormones are created from synthetic hormones and are actually different than bioidentical hormones.
Dr. Lisa Masterson, gave women advice on how to treat vaginal dryness by balancing estrogen levels.
The show emphasized that hormones play a tremendous role in women’s lives, and symptoms of a hormonal imbalance can be very frustrating and bothersome for a woman. As discussed in the show, proper hormone imbalance diagnosis, hormone therapy and bioidentical hormones are essential to eliminate the symptoms and restore hormonal balance.
